This part of the Pyrenees is surrounded by several protected areas because of its natural values. The route shows amazing landscapes inhabited by wild animals and beautiful flowers and trees.

We can watch the osprey, the kite, the marten, roe deer, chamois, and by water, green collar ducks, herons, and so on. On the other hand, the black pine, the Salencas the serge, and a multitude of colorful flowers in subalpine and alpine meadows.

During the autumn, all around we can pick up delicious mushrooms.

The route goes trough cattle trails and old paths used years ago for economic and social activities. We will walk along  these forests and meadows full of tradition.

Another traditional value of these regions is the water. The main rivers and valleys -Noguera de Tor, Noguera Ribagorçana y Baliera- and its tributaries will accompany us during long sections of the route. In fact, the first stage is a good stretch of “el camino del agua” passing trough the “salencar de Barruera”, which is a protected natural area (PEIN and natura 2000)

In the highlands, around two thousand meters, are the vast and endless landscapes of high mountains, where you can see protected areas of  Aigüestortesand Sant Maurici National Park, Posets Maladeta Natural Park and Gelada Natural Interest Space.

From the mountain passes of the route we can see Pyrenean peaks steeped in history as the Aneto -3404m-,Punta Alta -3013-, the massif of Besiberris, the Comaloformo -3029m-, Vallibierna -3067-or the Russel -3207m-, and so on.
